Meet The Team

Professor Joe Shonk is a 3rd degree Black Belt within the Pedro Sauer's Brazilian Jujitsu Association.

Professor Joe received his Black Belt originally under Luka and Megaton Dias. Professor Joe is as advid martial artist who has trained in martial arts for over 25 years which includes Jeet Kune Do (JKD).

Professor Joe is a senior instructor of our Adult BJJ Program.

Professor Prentiss Rhodes is a Black Belt within the Pedro Sauer's Brazilian Jujitsu Association. Professor Prentiss was awarded his black belt by Luciana Dias.

Professor Prentiss is a black belt in the Israeli self defense system, Haganah, under Mike Lee Kanarek and has  trained at the highest levels in other martial arts including Taekwondo, Kickboxing and, Capoeira.  Professor Prentiss is also a certified Senior Instructor in the Strong First School of Strength Instructor and a  Master Instructor with the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Professor Prentiss is the Head Instructor of our Adult BJJ Program.

Professor Alex Wilson is a Gracie Humaita Black Belt. Professor Alex received his Black Belt originally under Joe Shonk and Luciana Dias, and is now training under the tutelage of Pedro Sauer via Sensei Prentiss. 

Professor Alex is a mixed martial artist who has trained at a high level in Wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and while traveling studied other striking arts like Muay Thai and Kick Boxing.

Professor Alex is an instructor of our Adult BJJ and kid Programs.

Jay Spain is a Brown Belt within the Pedro Sauer's Brazilian Jujitsu Association. Jay Spain received his Brown Belt originally under Luka and Megaton Dias.

Jay Spain is a higher level martial artist who has been promoted to the certified teaching level of Mestrando in Capoeira,   Kru in Muay Thai, Sifu in Wing Chun and has also trained at a high level in Wrestling, Silat, Aikido and Arnis.

Jay is the lead teacher of our Kids BJJ Program.

Banding Hendrix is a Brown Belt within the Pedro Sauer's Brazilian Jujitsu Association.  banding Hendrix originally received his Brown Belt under Luka and Megaton Dias.

Banding Hendrix is an avid martial artist who has trained at a high level in Capoeira and other striking arts.

Banding is a teacher of our Kids BJJ Program. In addition, Banding is teaching an Adult BJJ Program in Gilbert, AZ.
